to Import Text Files

This page details how to setup documents that you use to import text files ( CSV ) into Contacts, Company and Employee entity documents. When you import these files the necessary stub documents will be created in the Service Desk Database (HUB).

1. Open the Entities database



Open the oz Entities database, if you dont have the ozNotes.NET Role the 'Extras' Action Bar Icon wont appear, you should confirm that you have this role before opening the database.

2. Choose the 'Import Text File' option.



Select the 'Import Text Files' option, if the 'Extras' action bar icon is not visible you dont have the ozNotes.NET role..

3. Modify a existing document



There are three example document, one for Contact, Company and Employee each.

4. Click the Import button on the document.



After modifing a document, click the 'Import' button to start the importing of the specified .txt file.

What to do next



Open the Service Desk Database (HUB), this will create a Device document in the 'Configuration Management' (Device) database. This document will detail a 'Audit' of your workstation ( PC ).

As the name suggests the HUB database is a central database of the oz ERM ( Entity Relationship Manager ) suite of databases. When you create Entities ( Company , Contact , Employee or Issue ) in the entities database a stub ( Cut down ) document is created in this database.

This database in a nutshell can be considered a HelpDesk. A user can create a Incident ( Ticket ) as a result of a incoming Email, Fax , In Person ( Visit ), Phone call or a letter against the stub entities documents in this database.

Activity are then undertaken to 'Resolve' the incident.

In a future release you will be able to 'Escalate' a incident to another Employee of the organisation or a 'RFI' - request for information can also be initiated. The difference between these two is the the owner changes to the person who the Incident is escalated too and with the RFI the owner of the document does not change.
